Can you stand the reign? (NEW!)

1
Although she is barely 19
she has mastered the art of the booty-pop,
the prettiest girl in a sea of filth
she is a living, breathing, lollipop.

2.
9 months pregnant with baby #5
living in the projects on the lower east side,
no future plans dance inside her head
except "what kind of ride should I buy?

3.
Corporate executive, a wall of college degrees
determined and successful, she is on her way,
corner office swaying high in the sky
squeezing 48 hours into a 24 hour day.

4
Sweet 17, rockin' baby phat jeans
bubble gum lip gloss, Nikes on her feet,
bound for college next year, future as bright as the sun
but she has yet to meet her self esteem

5
Almost 83, born and raised in Mississippi
happily residing in her three room shack,
she's lived through it all, a living testimony
remembering when she was once hated just because she was black

6
She stands, arms raised, ready to worship
Bible in her hands, cross around her neck,
she has chosen God as her life-long companion
visiting him on Sundays and every chance she gets

7.
Thirty four, single and loving it
entering year four of her five- year plan
she's showing the world she can have it all
even without a man

Seven different stories, seven different journeys
yet all tied with one common thread,
we can be easily spotted out of the crowd
by the crowns we wear upon our heads.

And while some of our crowns sparkle and shine
with gems of diamond and pearls,
others wear crowns that are missing their jewels
broken and shattered by the weight of the world.

They may have once reigned and ruled the world
but now they are down-trodden,
and instead of their fellow queens lifting them up
they are often pushed aside and forgotten.

But their fairytale does not have to end this way
not if we decide today to make a pact,
to go out into the world and find our forgotten queens
determined to them back.

And some of them won't return easily, know this for sure
some of them will fight you out of fear,
but she'll slowly start to come around
once she sees the jewels in her crown begin to reappear.

And once she is re-crowned, watch out!
She'll be up and on her way!
And the only thank you that you will need,
is the smile upon her face

So what are you waiting for? Get out the door!
There is no better day than today!
Because who knows, the tables may turn
and SHE'LL have to save YOU someday.

Whisper  (NEW!

don't you ever lose that sparkle
the glittery sunlight spread across your cheeks
pulling in moonbeams between blinks
you are all I ever think about

and I don't ever want to be without you
somewhere in my room, even if you are not right next to me
I am fine as long as
you are a straight line away, always near

and when I hear you speak, your laughter
swelling above me, even the ceiling, walls and planks thank God for you
we are blessed with the mere suggestion of us,
I know we have the best of both worlds

you are so much more lovely than this morning
yet less than tomorrow evening, the stars
wait patiently for their chance
I want to dance above your head at sunset

instead of attempting to avoid the inevitable I watch you
slide back, your sad eyes suddenly wide and bright
all night long the wind plays our song
accompanied by tree branches, stems and leaves

and as long as you are with me, I don't even have to breathe
your heartbeat jump starts the rhythm of my soul and
i have settled into your spirit,
making my home there

and together, we grow, slowly but surely
your limbs intertwined with mine again and again
we are hungry lovers,
never needing another.

Howdy!

If you have a message to send me, the best address to use is gabbygirlmediaATgmail.com. I check that one at least twice a day. Here are some answers to questions I received via email over the past few weeks.

What happened to the cd you were recording?

Argh! I tried to record one. I even wrote a few songs.  But it just wasn't in the stars for me, beautiful ones.  I'm hoping 2010 will bring lots of music.

Who is Gabby?

Gabby is the creation of myself and my Mama.  We have always created characters and she just came up one day in conversation.  Once her book is published, you're going to fall in love just like we did.  She's the smartest little girl ever!

Did you really write a novel in 21 days?

I did! It's called The Rhythm In Blue.  It's a fictional novel, set in Blue, Virginia. If everything works out as planned, you'll see it on your bookstore shelves early next year! I wouldn't suggest writing a novel in 21 days unless you don't mind turning into a maniac :)

Is there someplace I can read a few sample chapters from your new novel?

Unfortunately, no. But be patient, the book will be out soon!

Will you put my poetry on your site?

If it's good, sure! I can't publish everyone, but send me what you have and I'll check it out!

Do you have a blog?

I do! But in order to receive regular links to it, you have to be one of my followers on Twitter.  My name is not attached to it in any way :)  So what are you waiting for? Follow me! http://www.twitter.com/poetesscrystal

How can I book you for a show? How much do you charge?

For bookings, contact the Sentergroup at 615.828.7804.

As for fees, it depends on what type of show I will be doing. Will I be performing with my band? Acapella? Will I be expected to serve as host? Can I sell my merchandise?   How far will I have to travel? Call my booking agent and we can go from there.

Will you marry me?

LOL! You should already know I'm happily married to my beloved of 12 years- Corey :)

What do you do for fun?

I write a lot. Scrapbook. Bake. Cook. Eat. Listen to new music. Visit new places. Go for long drives. I'm learning about the Bible too- which is very interesting! In 2010 I will relearn the piano :)

I'll answer more questions in 2010 but for now- this is it! Ya'll are nosy!  LOL!
